Inwood Manor East Barnet, Vermont
* Spirit of the Northeast Kingdom is no longer together, but I'm leaving this information up for you because it is the most accurate that I have found on the Inwood Manor!
My report on The Inwood Manor of East Barnet, Vermont. Date 08-19-2011.
This morning I went to the Barnet Town Clerk Office in Barnet, Vermont to do research on a building called Inwood Manor. I, myself have lived with my family in East Barnet, Vermont for the past 25 years and worked there as a housekeeper as a teenager under the owners of Ronald Kaczor and Peter Embratto. I work as a Location Cordinator and Sensitive for my Team, S.P.I.R.I.T of the Northeast Kingdom. The team comprises of myself, Ginger "Gypsyjaguar" Cossey, Patrick "Wolf" Cossey, Chris "Troll"Kittridge, Caleb "Belac" Kittridge and my daughter Shoshoni "Lady Sophie" Degree. Caleb and Shoshoni are our apprentices. Each one of us has an unique ability to bring to the team. To see more information about us please visit Gypsyjaguar's and Wolf's website at www.gypsywolf.weebly.com/spirit-of-the-northeast-kingdom.html
Will be doing research on owners tomorrow at St. Johnsbury Anthenaeum. I will be looking for any more information on Inwood Manor and news of the owners, death records via Calendonia Record.

The Inwood Manor is 10 miles south of St. Johnsbury and is the first home to be seen on the southern end of the Old Silo Road in East Barnet. The Inwood Manor is reportedly haunted and that is why myself and my team are hoping to be able to investigate it. Today I spent almost 4 hours doing research at the local library on the previous owners of The Inwood Manor. As far as I have found, there have been no deaths at the Inwood Manor. But there have been several deaths in the river that sits in front of the Manor. I will try to investigate those deaths and report them to you as I find them. Now I have to go home and write up my findings and should have them here for you by Monday afternoon.
Thank you for stopping by.

The pictures above were taken by my daughter Shoshoni this morning at the Barnet Town Clerk Office. I had to finish up looking the rest of the owners for the Inwood Manor. I have been able to find owners up to 1868. I'm here at the library right now and will be going down to the reference room to continue looking up information on the previous owners. And I have some great news!!!! I talked to the people who are caretaking the property and they have agreed to let S.P.I.R.I.T of the Northeast Kingdom come and study the house. They are very excited to have us come over and when I told them that I was going to have a historical record of their home they were very very excited. Apparently the records were burned in a fire and they lost all of the information. So this is a big kudos for us as a team with our first mission on a positive roll! I can't wait. This Saturday the team will be visiting the river where all of the deaths have been taking place. I will have photos and reports for your viewing pleasure next week. Well off to hit the books! Thank you for Stopping by and feel free to look around the rest of the website. I'm sure you will find other things in here that will be pleasing and interesting for you.

My Report before visit to Inwood Manor
August 25, 2011
When I started out doing the research for the Inwood Manor, I of course went to the internet first. I did find two places in which you could go to for a little bit of the information. The information on the location was wrong, but the ghost stories were interesting. This is what I found from a woman named Marianne Kelly dated October 27, 2007. She said that the building used to be a stage coach stop and a croquet factory dorm and a Bed and Breakfast. What she says about the ghosts are interesting. "People have seen disembodied hands and hearing music coming from the grand piano that was locked in a private room." She also writes that several owners were monks, but I found no evidence of that in the land records.
The other website I went to was www.hautedhouses.com. This is what they had to say about the ghost that occupy the property. A woman and child were drowned in the Connecticut River (its the Passumpsic River)near the inn. Ron Kaczor and Peter Embartto said that when they began to renovate the house they saw a woman in a red and white striped dress, smiling and visibily friendly. She would then float up the stairs. The child has appeared at the cellar steps.
I moved to East Barnet in 1984. I was 14 years old. And to make some money when I was a teenager I would go with my mother up to the Inwood Manor and do housekeeping and when my mother couldn't do it any longer I did it. I worked there for two summers. And it was unbelievable. I worked for Ron and Peter. They really made Inwood Manor very popular. The Inn was absolutely beautiful inside and very cozy. There was always a warm and pleasant feeling there. I saw several ghosts while I worked there. I have been a sensitive since I was a small child so seeing the ghosts were never an issue with me. They were never threatening and they always smiled at me. I did see the woman that they spoke of and the child, but when I saw the child he was always on the ground playing with a wooden toy. I also saw a very old man that was crouched over with a light blue stripped shirt, suspenders, and dickies and loafers. He had to walk with a cane. On many occasions I heard the piano or the radio would come on all of a sudden when I was in the kitchen cleaning. I would also hear the house move and bend and sway like it was alive. It never gave me an eerie feeling though. It just felt well lived in. I would also hear the sound of a stagecoach coming up and I would fly outside because I could hear horses stomping and snorting, but to no avail they were not there. In all of my research I found that only one person actually died at the house and that was Calvin Brown's son Barron when he was 19 months old. My very own uncle died in the Passumspic River when he was home on leave from WWII. His car still sits under the iron bridge at the base of the cliff in front of the property. His name was Dale Larocque. Many people have lost their lives in that stretch of the river. In the past 10 years alone it has claimed the lives of 6 people. That is scary and amazing all at the same time, yet no one seems to do anything about it. I haven't gone into the microfilm section yet to see if there were any deaths in that stretch of the river in the past or if there were any major accidents at the croquet factory, but in the future that would be interesting to find out. It has been a real pleasure doing this research and I hope that it is helpful to anyone who reads this.
